KOTIS PICKS / WATER BOTTLES

All the water bottles we love (and use ourselves)

We tested over 50 bottles, gathered data, and researched trends to help you narrow your search. From sleek designs to all-day performance, these bottles stood out for all the right reasons.

Everyone uses a water bottle. Whether it's for the gym, the office, road trips, or just making sure we drink something other than coffee—reusable bottles are a daily essential. And that makes them a perfect canvas for your brand.

Now imagine this: a single co-branded water bottle gets you over 1,400 impressions per dollar. That’s some serious marketing mileage—if you pick one that people are excited to use. Oh, and the planet? Yeah, it appreciates it too. Americans toss over 60 million single-use plastic bottles every day. Swapping in reusables isn’t just smart—it’s necessary.

So whether you’re sourcing swag for your team, customers, or an event, we’ve picked the best bottles that actually get used, loved, and carried everywhere. These are the tried and tested water bottles we reach for again and again.

Owala Freesip Stainless Thermal Bottle 24oz

Functional and eye catching

I didn’t want to like this water bottle. I’ve had the same name brand stainless steel flip top lid for 5 years. I was convinced nothing could replace it- especially another trendy item that flooded my Instagram feed. But after giving it a shot, I have to say… it’s kind of genius. The built-in straw makes sipping easy, but when I want a bigger gulp, I can just tilt it back—no awkward lid unscrewing. It actually keeps water cold for hours, the leak-proof design holds up, and even the flip-top lid, which I thought would be clunky, is oddly satisfying to use. With 2 sizes and multiple color combinations, there’s something for everyone. I wanted to roll my eyes at the hype, but now? Owala is my new emotional support water bottle, and I’ve officially retired the other to my kids.

Klean Kanteen Eco TKWide Twist Cap 20oz

Planet + People + Water

This water bottle managed to check so many boxes we didn’t even know we wanted; twist top lid that hides the straw, slender enough to fit in a standard cup holder in the car, and a comfortable carry handle to trek your water with you anywhere. This bottle is made from high-quality, BPA-free stainless steel (bonus points for a stainless steel straw, too). Plus, Klean Kanteen is all about eco-friendly materials, production methods, and a giveback program, so you’re making a solid choice for both your hydration and the planet. Due to the twisting hidden straw, it was a little more challenging to klean (see what we did there?), but the other features make it worth the time.

Fellow Carter Carry Tumbler 20oz

A perfect gift for your favorite crew

At first glance we thought the splash guard was for infusing tea in the water- apparently a common mistake. It’s actually there to prevent a torrent of liquid from slapping you in the face and dribbling down your chin- and it’s genius! Gone are the days of playing teeter totter with your water, just twist open the top and tilt back. We loved the sleek, minimal design and range of colors (10!). We appreciated the ceramic coating on the inside to preserve pure taste. If we could get nitpicky (and we are) we would love a silent twist off top.

Hydrojug Traveler Thermal Mug 20oz

Seamlessly transitioning from home to the office

As soon as we got this in our hot little hands we thought of the viral Stanley water bottle that everyone just had to have a few years back. Here’s why we liked this version better; sleeker lid, copper insulated to keep drinks colder for longer, and easier on the wallet. There are three sizes ranging from 20-40 oz and multiple colors to select from, making it one of the most dynamic choices out there. We loved the leak proof lid, the robust handle, and the cupholder feature.

CORKCICLE Sport Canteen Soft Touch 32oz

Stays cool even when it’s hot

We never thought of a water bottle being soft to the touch, but we were enchanted by how soft this one is. Surprisingly durable, this water bottle had no problem being tossed around in my gym bag with nary a leak or scuff. It kept the water ice cold during some intense hot yoga sessions with its triple insulated design. It’s a little more costly than some of our other options, but this water bottle will outperform its competition for a permanent spot in daily use. The large capacity only comes in 2 colors, but the smaller 20oz offers a few more options.

Thor Copper Vacuum Insulated Water Bottle 22oz

Surprisingly affordable, impressive quality

We could show you $5 water bottle options all day long, but would your customer keep that item? Probably not. In an effort to keep your cobranded merch out of the landfill, we set our sights on a higher quality, lower cost option that you would be proud to give. The Thor water bottle is made with double insulated stainless steel with copper- which was a surprise given the price tag. It’s basic in its design, but that’s where the value is. We liked the simplicity, the powder coated finish, and the overall quality. Aside from it being a little smaller in capacity, there wasn’t much we would change about this.

Additional info and FAQ

Water bottles come in all shapes, sizes, and degrees of insulation, so it’s fitting that their lids come in an array of options too. Depending on how you want to hydrate, there’s a lid option for you. Take the chug lid, for example—it’s built for speed. With a wide mouth opening and a cap that flips or screws off, it’s perfect for those moments when you’re parched after a workout or trying to get your daily water intake in a hurry.

Then there’s the sipper lid, which is all about control and convenience. These usually have a smaller spout or built-in straw, making it easy to take tidy sips without spilling—ideal for work desks, car cup holders, or gym machines. They’re great for casual sipping throughout the day.

Lastly, the open mouth design keeps it classic and simple: just a wide opening with no frills. It’s easy to fill with ice, clean, and drink from (as long as you’re stationary). But without a special lid, it’s not exactly travel-friendly—unless you’re cool with a few surprise water spills. Each lid has its own personality, and choosing one really depends on how, when, and where you like to hydrate.

Material and insulation options

Water bottles can come in an assortment of material, the most common being glass, acrylic, plastic, aluminum, and stainless steel. For this Kotis Picks article, we decided to focus only on stainless steel. Why?

Stainless steel is the most cost-effective option when looking at the main aspects of a water bottle: durability and keeping your drink at the desired temperature. The rest of the options, while cheaper in cost, are also weaker in performance. We want your merch to generate excitement and use, which is why we’re here to help you find the best bottle for your needs.

When it comes to insulated water bottles, not all walls are created equal. Single wall bottles are the lightweights of the bunch—great for on-the-go sipping, but don’t expect them to keep your drink cold (or hot) for long.

Step it up a notch and you’ve got double wall air-insulated bottles, which add a second layer with air in between. It’s like a puffer jacket for your drink—better than nothing but still lets some temperature sneak through.

Now enter the game-changer: double wall vacuum insulation. By sucking the air out between the layers, these bottles drastically slow down heat transfer, keeping your coffee hot and your water ice-cold for hours.

And if you’re looking for the VIP of temperature control, vacuum insulation with copper lining adds a reflective copper layer that bounces heat away like a thermal superhero. It’s the ultimate combo of science and style—your beverage’s best friend. Many of our crowned winners come with this insulation option!

When did water bottles become such a brand statement?

Water bottles have come a long way from being just a practical way to carry water! Water bottle brands became a statement largely due to a mix of style, sustainability, and social media. As people started moving away from single-use plastics and leaning into eco-conscious living, reusable bottles became a symbol of that shift. Brands like Hydro Flask, Stanley, and S’well didn’t just sell bottles—they sold a lifestyle. With sleek designs, fun colors, and customization options, they turned something functional into something fashionable. Suddenly, your water bottle said something about your vibe: minimalist, sporty, trendy, eco-warrior… or all the above.

Social media played a huge role too. Influencers, TikTok trends, and “what’s in my bag” videos started featuring certain bottles almost like accessories—just like a cute phone case or a cool pair of sneakers. Limited edition drops and viral colors (looking at you, Stanley tumbler in “rose quartz”) only added to the hype. So now, carrying a certain brand of water bottle isn’t just about hydration—it’s kind of a subtle flex.
